Set within Westfield Century City, this 600 sq ft café — distilled to glass, timber and light — invites shoppers to pause, recharge and savour Blue Bottle’s craft.
Within a compact footprint, Athena delivered a jewel-box fit-out that marries precision with warmth. A continuous blond-ply band forms soffit, fascia and counter — framing the cobalt Blue Bottle mark. Low-iron glass erases the line between café and concourse, while grey ceramic blocks anchor benches and planters. Back-of-house is hidden behind seamless maple cabinetry, leaving the Marzocco and pastry case centre-stage. The result — a calm, acoustically balanced refuge amid retail bustle.
Every detail was value-engineered for speed and durability: prefabricated millwork arrived pre-finished, integrated LED coves eliminate downlight glare, and concealed floor ducts keep power cables out of sight. Passive shading from the mall’s overhang reduces solar gain, allowing the café to meet Title 24 energy targets without additional film or blinds. Completed in just eight weeks and certified with zero punch-list items, the Century City outpost became a pilot for Blue Bottle’s next wave of Southern California roll-outs.
