Michael Mina’s celebrated chophouse lands at Americana at Brand, pairing mid‑century jet‑set glamour with a modern, chef‑driven steak programme.
The 6,000 sq ft build‑out evokes the golden age of air travel: tufted leather banquettes cinched with custom luggage straps, brass‑trimmed privacy screens and cloud‑print ceiling coffers. A glowing onyx bar fronts the exhibition kitchen, where wood‑fired grills finish Wagyu rib caps and lobster pot‑pies. Exterior black‑brick pilasters, parchment awnings and wrought‑iron planters create a stately street presence that transitions guests from bustling Brand Boulevard to a hushed, club‑like dining room.
Bespoke pendants are slung from polished stanchions to ensure table‑level luminance without blocking sight‑lines, while acoustic paneling beneath dark‑stained oak floors tempers the dining buzz. Restrooms continue the aircraft motif with rivet‑studded lacquer walls, hexagonal mirrors and brass nautical sconces. High‑efficiency HVAC, LED cove lighting and low‑flow fixtures meet the centre’s LEED standards, and a phased hand‑over allowed staff training ahead of the March 2014 grand opening.
