Calabasas, CA
Set within The Commons at Calabasas, Greenleaf brings its farm‑to‑table ethos to a Mediterranean‑style storefront flanked by leafy patios. Athena delivered a warm, garden‑inspired interior that celebrates fresh, California dining while maximising throughput for a high‑volume service model.
Working under a fast‑track programme ahead of the November 2017 grand opening, we re‑imagined the former Johnny Rockets shell into an open‑kitchen concept. White subway tiles, reclaimed oak cladding and a fourteen‑seat communal table create an inviting ‘modern farmhouse’ vibe, while exposed ducts and blackened‑steel accents add a touch of industrial edge. Full‑height glazing links the dining room to an alfresco terrace, increasing capacity and drawing daylight deep into the plan. Behind the scenes, upgraded MEP systems support a scratch kitchen, fresh juice bar and craft‑cocktail programme without compromising energy efficiency.
Functionality drives the details: overhead macramé planters soften acoustics, polished‑oak stools are stackable for events, and a linear pass expedites order flow during peak lunch rush. Low‑VOC finishes, LED lighting and locally sourced timbers reduce environmental impact, aligning with the brand’s ‘eat well – live well’ philosophy. Delivered on schedule and within budget, the Calabasas outpost quickly became the chain’s flagship in the San Fernando Valley – a testament to thoughtful value engineering and seamless collaboration between our construction team, franchise designers and centre management.
