A tired 1950s ranch — reinvented as a light-filled family retreat with a resort-style yard.
Athena stripped the house to studs, re-planned the layout and added a 400 sq ft master suite. Walls between kitchen, dining and living spaces came down, replaced by a steel beam that creates an open heart anchored by a stone-topped island and pro-grade range. New cedar-slat gates, a wide concrete apron and drought-tolerant planting give the street view fresh presence, while smooth-stucco façades tie old and new volumes together.
Out back, we poured a stamped-concrete patio, installed a lap pool and spa, and set a circular fire-pit terrace beneath café lights — turning the garden into an all-season entertainment zone. Inside, custom maple cabinetry maximises storage in the walk-in wardrobe; exposed-knot pine panelling in the home office preserves mid-century character. Completed in six months, the remodel increased liveable space, energy efficiency and market value in equal measure.
