We turned a vacant shell on 4th Street into a 3 800 sq ft Mercado flagship — modern Mexican soul wrapped in wood and steel.
In just twelve weeks we delivered a full production kitchen, zinc-topped bar, ADA rest-rooms and a 120-seat dining room. Reclaimed pine flooring, white subway-tile wainscot and wire-mesh bottle racks set an industrial-rustic tone, while 13-foot storefront windows flood the space with daylight. Communal tables and leather banquettes boost capacity without choking circulation, and hidden acoustic panels keep the bustle comfortably muted.
Back-of-house systems were value-engineered: demand-controlled hoods cut energy use, and the grease interceptor and fire suppression were threaded cleanly through existing utilities. At night, perforated drum pendants and brass sconces cast a warm glow that echoes the open kitchen’s flames. The material “tapas” of wood, metal and stone has become the brand’s design blueprint for future Mercado locations.
