A bold spin on the taquería, XOC Tequila Grill pairs modern-Mexican flavors with a kinetic, neon-rimmed bar and an alfresco plaza that soaks up the San Fernando Valley sun.
Athena converted a raw retail shell at Westfield’s Village into a 3,000 sq.ft. eat-drink hub. A cantilevered tequila bar — all back-lit glass and polished brass — anchors the space, while floor-to-ceiling sliders erase the boundary between the stepped patio and the mural-splashed dining room. Durable concrete, riveted metal panels and lime-green shiplap create an urban palette that lets the colorful art and cocktails pop.
Back-of-house circulation follows a U-shaped loop that speeds takeaway orders without disrupting seated guests, and a demand-ventilation hood keeps the open kitchen cool during the evening rush. Tiered banquettes framed in industrial piping give every table a courtyard view; overhead, string lights and oversize ceiling fans temper warm Valley nights. All mechanical and grease-duct runs were threaded through the steel joists early in the build-out — a move that preserved the 18-foot ceiling and allowed the design team to float the bar’s LED halo without visual clutter.
